India faced off against Australia in both teams’ final warm-up match in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 in the ICC Academy ground in Dubai. India had beaten England in their first match, while Australia beat New Zealand in their first match.
Australia won the toss and Aaron Finch decided to bat first, while India, who were captained by Rohit Sharma in this match despite Virat Kohli’s presence bowled first.
Thanks to Steve Smith’s 57 and Marcus Stoinis’ 41* Australia put up 152/5 in 20 overs. Glenn Maxwell looked dangerous and slammed 37 in 28 balls with 5 fours. He hit an audacious reverse sweep to leggie Rahul Chahar in the 12th over of the Australia innings.
Soon after getting whacked by the Australian, Kohli was seen having a chat with the bowler, following which, Chahar delivered three consecutive dots and then cleaned the all-rounder’s stump to break the dangerous partnership between Maxwell and Steve Smith. The duo had added 61 runs for the fourth wicket.
For India, R Ashwin was the best bowler with 2/8 in 2 overs. India chased down the target with ease and 8 wickets in hand, as Rohit Sharma made 60, while KL Rahul made 39 and Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 38*.
