Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar gave his team a few tips to beat India in their upcoming clash in the T20 World Cup 2021 on Saturday, October 24. Pakistan has not beaten India in the previous five clashes in T20 World Cups and will look to get one on the board in Dubai this time.
Speaking to Sportskeeda ahead of the big Indo-Pak match in the T20 World Cup 2021, Akhtar jokingly pointed out three things Pakistan would need to do in order to beat India in their opening match of the tournament.
“Give sleeping pills to India first. Second, stop Virat Kohli from using Instagram for two days (chuckles). And third, ask MS Dhoni to not come to bat himself, I am telling you he’s still the most in-form batter,” he said.
MS Dhoni is present with the Indian team in UAE for the T20 World Cup but only in the capacity of a mentor.
However, on a serious note, Akhtar said that Pakistan openers need to make the most of the powerplay overs and then ensure that they keep the scoreboard ticking by not playing too many dot balls.
“Pakistan needs to open in a manner where you can get a good start. Then, Pakistan will have to avoid dot balls, play run-a-ball for 5-6 overs then take the strike rate up. And when it comes to bowling, if you have a good total, then make sure you are out there and take wickets,” he explained.
On being asked to pick his trump card in the Pakistan team, Akhtar named right-handed batsman Asif Ali as his choice.
