“The Hundred” tournament which was inaugurated by ECB last month is making the headlines in particular for the performances of Indian batters such as Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah Rodriguez. So far the standout performer and leading runscorer of the season is none other than Jemimah Rodriguez with 223 runs at an impressive strike rate of 162 and three half-centuries to her name.
After Dinesh Karthik in this season, she debuted as a commentator, for yesterday’s match (Manchester originals vs London Spirits)

During the match, she was asked to name her favorite keeper batter.
Without hesitation, she replied Adam Gilchrist then suddenly she forced herself to mention MS Dhoni at the last moment and said people in India will kill me.
“I think Adam Gilchrist…Oh, I’m sorry – and MS Dhoni! People in India will kill me!” Says Jemimah Rodriguez.
What made her change the first choice statement immediately. She might have thought social media platforms will go against her if she fails to name Captain cool. Even Rishabh Pant named Adam Gilchrist as his favorite keeper-batsman in an Interview and praised MS Dhoni for his guidance to prosper his International career.
In India freedom of expressing one’s own mind is still a work in progress. It is an Individual opinion to openly voice out their favorites in terms of their interest. It should be taken lightly however sometimes it is taken as a debate where things can go out of the situation.
There is no comparison between the two legends. Each of them has a huge fan following across the world. Both excelled in almost all the fields like batting, wicket-keeping, and captaincy for their respective nations.
Finally, Everyone should be given space to speak out their opinions irrespective of their outbursts.
“Look it has got to be Dhoni. My name is Gilly, not silly. I understand I’m talking to an Indian with a lot of Indian supporters. So, of course, Dhoni’s at the top, followed by Sangakara and Brendon,” Gilchrist said when he asked to rank the wicket keepers in his era.
Hearing Jemimah Rodriguez’s comments MS Dhoni fans were not happy with her comments.
